Boards and Commissions

The Town Committee is responsible for recruiting appointees to Waterbury’s various boards and commissions.

Aside from the Board of Aldermen and Board of Education (to both of which membership is by election), each board and commission is comprised of no more then a one person majority of whichever political party the sitting mayor represents. The rest of each board is comprised of members from any minority party. Commissioners are appointed for multi-year terms by the current mayor and must be re-appointed if they choose to continue to serve by the sitting mayor at the time of term expiration.
